Gentle Greatness - The Power of the Petal
I had the privilege every Child should have - I spent most of my Childhood in gardens…
It must have been there, that the seed was sown in my sub-conscious Mind that would
later inspire me to Love Mother Earth‘s Green Beings the way I do!
And if that wasn‘t enough, it was our Mother Shany‘s enthusiasm for gardening that would secure
the link within me for a deep Love for Nature.
I was in my 18th or 19th year, when I was
introduced to the works of Georgia O'Keeffe
by Fleur Ferri, a well known South African
artist. Though I did not have a lot of time
with her, I learned a lot from Fleur.
Through her works, I fell in love with realism.
She also taught me to paint by day, for
the best quality of light which could affect
one's colour pallette.
Flowers are just such AMAZING BEINGS!
Always Open to Light, soft & FRAGILE,
and yet, within that fragility, lies all their
BEAUTY & STRENGTH & POWER!
Their strength comes from
surrendering to Life, comes from opening
to the world around them, and accepting
what is there, constantly growing towards
the Light.
Hope & Trust...seem to be embedded in every petal!
How could we possibly see them as objects and
not Love Letters to Life, from Source itself!?
They do not hide or cringe away from their
Source-Blessed Potential!
They Live and fulfill their purpose, so purely.
Apparently, Albert Einstein once said:
„Schaue ganz tief in die Natur, und dann
verstehst du alles besser.“
- Once you have studied Nature more
intensely, you will understand everything
much better...
Painting flowers, has left me with a great
respect and love for nature and it has
certainly left me thinking , that Someone
has got to love us (humans) a LOT,
to grant us all this amazing beauty!
Some people may find my flowers
somewhat erotic, but that I suppose is
just a small glimpse into the intricate
understanding of their meaning . . .
it is perhaps time for us to learn a
purer form of erotism from them?
My love for nature and spiritualism is
combined here, to stimulate a reaction
to something we easily overlook . . .
There is a beautiful saying:
"Flowers are Angels,
to remind one, what pure beauty is all about..."
